In our class we learn through a topic/project approach. Which means that we cover the 6 Areas of Learning through a theme. The 6 Areas of Learning are:

• Language, Literacy and Communication
• Maths & Numeracy
• Science and Technology
• Humanities
• Creativity
• Health and Wellbeing

Autumn Term Topic: WW1

This term we will be learning about World War One (as chosen by the children). We will look at key dates, why the war started, life in the trenches, the home front, tanks and weapons, rationing and Christmas during the war to name a few. 

Spring Term Topic: Extreme Earth

Our Spring Term topic is 'Extreme Earth'. Children will learn about natural disasters such as volcano eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis and avalanche. We will undertake science experiments based on these natural disasters; we will make our very own volcanoes and make them erupt! Children will use their creative skills to make music and artwork based on 'Extreme Earth'. Our class book is 'The Firework-Maker's Daughter'. 

Useful Information

• PE days are MONDAY and THURSDAY. Please come dressed for PE wearing: a white t-shirt, black shorts/joggers, trainers, and a red jumper/hoodie/cardigan. 

• Please practise reading at home every evening. Reading little and often will really help improve your accuracy, fluency and understanding. Bring your school reading book and record to school every day please! We have rewards for those who read and remember their books.

• Bring with you a healthy snack every day, and a water bottle to keep hydrated throughout the day.

• Seesaw will be used to share some work with parents, or keep you up to date with events in school (alongside emails from school).
