Our School Council has greatly increased pupils’ confidence, experiences and responsibility. Pupils exercise their democratic right to vote at the start of year by voting in two members per class; we on our way to becoming ethically informed citizens. Within our School Council, we vote for positions of Chair, Vice-chair, Treasurer and Secretary. We hold weekly meetings and Councillors give next day feedback to school in their classes. We have raised hundreds of pounds for charity over the past few years. Other past and recent successes are include: Forgotten Snack Shop, design a Christmas t-shirt competition for Mr Baugh, Suggestion Boxes in all classes (pupil voice is always being encouraged), Pin the Nose on Rudolf for Industry week, visits to the Wrexham Food bank and Mayor’s Parlour, T4U Shoeboxes and visit, Reindeer Food stall for Christmas Fayre, Children in Need Guess the Spot on Pudsey competition, we made hundreds of ribbons to sell for Ukraine, Guess the Bear’s name competition, School Service on summer hazards, cake sale/disco for Children In Need, Pyjama day/ welly throwing for the Turkey Earthquake Disaster, best decorated Christmas door competition, Easter Egg hunt for everyone.
Our School Council recently completed an evaluation for our Healthy Schools Officer and after her subsequent visit, she quoted in her thank you letter to us, that “my role is to ensure that School Councils are working effectively in primary schools…..this was very much evident during my visit at your school and you should be very proud of all that you have achieved so far.”
