Start of the school day
At 8.50am the teachers are in the classrooms to meet the pupils, teaching assistants are present on the playground and in the cloakrooms to ensure that the pupils go to their classes in an orderly manner. Pupils move through the cloakrooms into class during this time to reduce congestion.
Parents wishing to pass on information to the teacher are asked to come to the main entrance and Mrs. Jones takes the message and ensures it reaches the teacher by 9.30am. This approach allows a prompt start to the school day, and in particular to our Read, Write, Inc. sessions.
For reasons of security, the gate from the Ridgeway into the playground will be locked by 9.05am, allowing parents of younger children time to leave. Any pupils arriving after this time will need to come to the main entrance.
End of the school day
The bell for the end of the school day will ring at 3pm for Foundation Phase and all pupils will be handed over to their parents/carers from the infant playground. For KS2 pupils, the bell will ring at 3.15pm. Teachers will escort pupils from their classrooms to the junior playground. KS2 pupils are asked to come back into the building to wait near the office should their parent not arrive on time at school.
